I loved the fact that teachers cycled out, we weren’t stuck with one teaching style. I also enjoyed the essay writing on Fridays because it allowed me to have a visual of the parts of the language I didn’t understand.

It is a good idea to study about 6 months in school or on your own in order to make sure you are not left behind by the fast pace of the class.

At the end of my first term, I asked the teachers for conversation help and they sat down with me for a half an hour in the mornings for a week and a half and talked with me in Japanese. That was probably the biggest help I had, and really gave me confidence in speaking.

People are just as worried and scared as you are and you can meet some wonderful people if you let you be yourself. I stayed for one semester but I have made better friends in that time than some people I have known for years.

Everyone says they will do it, and not a lot actually do (myself included) but I believe you should work as hard as you can before coming here. Some people have no problem but KCP can be a rude awakening for the less diligent students. That being said, for those with a goal and the heart to succeed, this school will give its all to you and take your Japanese to another level.

The BBQ event along with the Kanazawa trip after midterm tests were very nice events. They allowed the students to mingle with the teachers and with each other despite being in different classes.

Well for those considering the program of they’re thinking about going then it would be a good idea to memorize hiragana and katakana as well as start writing out some kanji before coming.

All of my teachers were wonderful and kept class fun and engaging while we learned a great deal. If your goals are to improve your Japanese, learn more about Japanese society, and enjoy doing it, I think that KCP is an excellent choice for a study abroad program.

The program throws us right into the Japanese language and living so we have the best chance at success. The staff is friendly and go above and beyond to help you understand class material, see how you are adjusting to life in Japan, and help you outside of class with anything you need.

I learned more in 3 months here than I did in probably the equivalent of 2 years in the US. All the teachers I have had thus far have been great, and the students are all nice and very self-motivated. It is a very good atmosphere.
