Always make Japanese local friends! Especially Japanese university students! They are so kind and fun and they’ll show you so many aspects of Japan’s culture.

The get togethers were also a great way of meeting other students and teachers, and using more Japanese.

I think the emphasis on class discussion really helped my improve both my listening and speaking, and helped me push past my comfort zone in a compassionate environment to get over my fear of speaking.

I loved travelling outside of Tokyo on the buses and going to the peach farm. It was a lot of fun getting to hang out with everyone and just have a good time.

The most interesting parts of class for me personally was learning all of the new sentence patterns and putting them to use!

There was always a clear path for learning, and I could feel and see the improvement in my skills every single day.

I found the speaking sessions and short test times to be challenging but also helpful in testing my Japanese knowledge and pushing my abilities.

It was super cool to get an insider view of corporate journalism/reporting, especially in the anime/manga industry.

The most productive was the dictation tests and practice in class. It really forced me to get better at writing and writing quick in Japanese.

I enjoyed the excursions that brought us out of the school and introduced us to different experiences.
