Staying with a homestay family was the most interesting aspect of the program for me.

Jason from 2013

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I found the Kamakura trip the most satisfying due to the fact that I got to experience a more rural Japan rather than bustling Tokyo. I enjoyed seeing the new culture and interacting with the people there. Also, being able to stay at a traditional royokan on tatami mats is a nice change to the bed I sleep on everyday!

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

the Manga session was particularly interesting as anime plays a huge part of Japanese culture.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

Staying with a homestay family was the most interesting aspect of the program for me, I got to see and live first hand with a Japanese family and also got to practice what I learned in class that day. The least interesting aspect would probably be the homework and tests.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Pair work was helpful as it helped you practice your skills and also helped you make friends.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

The Japanese culture I was exposed to gave me a better understanding of the people who live and work here.
