Jennifer from Summer 2016

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I really truly enjoyed the Kamakura trip. It was a fantastic opportunity to see a side of Japan I had never experienced before.

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

The US program's Saturday review class was actually very helpful for me!

How did you learn about the KCP program? If Internet, from what website?

I did a google search for "Immersive JLPT preparation" and KCP was the most impressive result that I found

Why did you select this program?

I've always studied best through immersion, and KCP was recommended to me very highly from everyone I spoke with.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I've found that most teachers focus on pair work and small group sessions. I didn't have any instances of any teacher doing games. The textbook and drill practice were most useful to me.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

The English speaking staff is all fantastic, and they truly do their best to make sure everyone has a good time and learns a lot.

What did you find least valuable in the Culture Course?

I truly enjoyed the Culture Course and genuinely have no complaints about it!

Where did you reside over the course of this program?

Dormitory

Where did you live?

Confiansu Kasai I

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

I've experienced no real problems with my dormitory. The manager is very very nice and helpful, and always greets me with a smile. The building did just start some noisy renovations, which are supposed to last until December, but that can't be helped really, and I understand that they're doing their best to be quiet. The apartments themselves are fine, they're clean and well maintained, and the furniture is working properly.

Any other comments or suggestions?

I would like to specifically thank Mike at the US office, and Mr. Tanaka for their help during my trip to Japan. My flight was significantly delayed due to mechanical issues, and KCP had to make special efforts to accommodate myself and three other students who were temporarily stranded in Los Angeles. Mike was readily available via phone and e-mail, and worked hard to make sure that we were comfortable and had all the information we needed before the flight took off. Mr. Tanaka met us with a smile well after his normal working hours and helped us to our dormitories, readily answering every question we had. Our airline may have failed us, but KCP certainly did not!

Testimonials

If you want a challenge, then this program in definitely what you’re looking for. I came into the program with very basic knowledge of Japanese and am definitely excited about how much I have improved. Learning a language isn’t instant and it takes a while to sink in, but the longer you’re here you become more motivated to utilize what you learn and to continue to progress in your studies. And all of the instructors and office staff are some of the most friendly and approachable people I have ever met. They really make the whole experience quite enjoyable!
