Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Yamanashi Bus Trip and the Waseda University Visit because it allowed us to meet new friends and experience new events.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The class as a whole moved very quickly thus each student was always involved. The group conversation practice allowed for students to get to know one another regardless of the fact that they did not speak the same language besides Japanese. I really like that we were able to explore the city and experience Japan in our own way. There was nothing in the program that I thought was unproductive.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I really enjoyed the drill practice, pair work, and small group sessions.

Where did you reside over the course of this program?

Dormitory

Where did you live?

Tanashi Dorm

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

The only thing that I did not like about the Tanashi dorm was the distance and time from KCP. Besides that I really enjoyed the living experience, it was new and interesting. They provided us free dinner and breakfast, which allowed us to try home style Japanese meals. Also I got to experience a public bath in the dorm, although it was intimidating at first I soon got used to it and saw it as normal.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

I would explain the strange gap between being placed in level 1 or level 2. I knew I was not a complete beginner so I felt that I should have been placed in level 2, but because I was not a master at converting verbs into "Te-form" they placed me in level one. Thus making me start from the beginning with hiragana and katakana which I hand learned 3 years ago...... I did not feel right, so I would recommend that if a student is interest in KCP they should either be a complete beginner or have knowledge past "Te-form" in order avoid what me and many other students experienced. Regardless if the program was a complete review rather than learning new material, I still feel that the teachers, friends, and KCP in general, make the program very worthwhile.

Any other comments or suggestions?

Thank you for giving me one of the greatest experiences of my entire life so far! It has been a dream of mine ever since the age of 11 to visit Japan and I finally did it at age 20!
