Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I really enjoyed getting to speak with teachers outside of class during the annual school event. It was a great way to practice my japanese speaking ability.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I think the introduction of reading and writing were integral for grammar and vocabulary.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

The test and English support were very helpful, to find weak points to improve upon.

Anything you especially liked in the living arrangements? Any problems you experienced?

I enjoyed the close proximity to school from the dorm, it made getting home to study easy and convenient.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Use every opportunity to practice your japanese outside of class, be it at the convenience store or in everyday interactions at the train station. Slowly but surely, conversations in japanese will become easier.

If you’re looking for an intensive course, then KCP is the place to go! Although it was hard work, it was also a lot of fun and I’m very pleased with my current language skill – and I’ve only just finished Level 1! Going out with the class for a final dinner really showed me how much we’d learnt as we had no problems in conveying our feelings even though our only common language was Japanese. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
