I think the amount of listening comprehension practice I got through each class was very helpful.

Thomas from Summer 2024

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Yamanashi field trip was very memorable because all the students in our program got closer through a greatly enriching experience which I remembered enjoying thoroughly!

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I think the amount of listening comprehension practice I got through each class was very helpful, however, I think my goals with speaking were too mixed with learning how to write which made my progression of speaking competency less expansive, but I am still grateful for the teachers and what I got out of this program.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I believe any activities that forced us to learn a lot of vocabulary and then implement those words in speaking practice tasks was an activity that greatly aided with my language skills!

Any suggestions for improving class activities or materials?

I think some kanji were quite basic while others were very complex. At times it did not feel like a natural progression of kanji knowledge but that is more of the book rather than the teachers. I am very pleased with the teachers! They were all very kind, helpful, and encouraging !

Anything you especially liked in the living arrangements? Any problems you experienced?

I liked how organized and clean our dorm was at Crevia Will in Musashi Kosugi. I am grateful for what the building and staff provided us with.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Please be kind and enthusiastic while studying at the school. It’s a new environment for everyone so a warm and welcoming presence helps you and those around you to have a more enjoyable and easy adjustment to life in Tokyo.

Testimonials

Because I am a huge fan of research and spreadsheets, I created an excel worksheet comparing numerous Japanese study abroad programs by cost, housing, length of study, and many other comparison points. Overall, KCP came out superior based on the amount of things that you get for the price. After completing the program, I can say choosing KCP was a perfect decision. KCP is a real school — professional teachers, strict grading systems, textbooks – the whole package. KCP proved to be much more than I expected – the classes are tough, but it taught me how to work harder, build a work ethic, and I am coming out with many rich experiences thanks to KCP. This school truly prepares you for higher levels and entrance into Japanese colleges.
