I have no Japanese whatsoever. Is this program right for me?
As a language-acquisition program, the KCP program requires some Japanese language (kana memorized, some vocabulary, and some kanji); time management; study skills; organization; and the ability to concentrate regularly. The program is very intensive and full immersion (no English spoken in language classes). It is not intended as an enrichment, survey, or broad cultural experience.
If you are confident in the skills listed above and can teach yourself kana, some vocabulary, and some kanji before you leave, you may be able to learn successfully. Here are some helpful tools.
